Development Overview

Tŷ Nos is a development of 19, one-bedroom, affordable apartments located in Wrexham on the site of the former existing outdated homeless shelter and temporary cabin shelters. The homes will provide temporary accommodation for people in need and support those experiencing homelessness in the Wrexham area.

The contemporary building is sympathetic to the existing local character taking design cues from the local building language, replicating the rhythm of the existing street scene, and using a mix of traditional and modern materials. The new apartment block aims to replicate the rhythm and proportions of the traditional housing adjacent with brickwork and contemporary finishes. Domestic scale pitched roofs further helps the building respond to its surroundings. New landscaping and boundary treatments will enhance the visual amenity of the immediate area. The separation of the blocks of apartments aims to create a contained courtyard feel wrapping around the shared garden spaces.

The new scheme is being supported by Welsh Government and the new facility will be built to Lifetime Homes Standards, Welsh Government Development Quality Requirements and Secure By Design Gold targeting Gold standard. The low carbon apartments are highly energy efficient and will be to ‘Beattie Passivhaus standards’, with a timber framed structure and high levels of insulation.
