Development Overview

This development involves the development of site in Thornton Cleveleys for a brand new community consisting of 86 homes. The development offers a range of two, three and four bedroom houses with Help to Buy equity loans and it’s Helping Hands scheme to assist first time buyers, growing families and those looking to downsize.

Affordable housing has been seamlessly integrated into the layout with 20% of the homes for affordable rent. The homes are designed to be tenure blind so that the whole scheme is cohesive and inclusive.

The layout ensures that the majority of the new homes overlook existing green space or the new public open space with play area located central to the scheme.

Orientating the new housing around the public open space will not only provide an attractive outlook for the residents, but also provide natural surveillance and passive security which improves the current situation.

The importance of green space is recognised within the design and aims to improve the landscape character of the area, placing emphasis on biodiversity. Much of landscape is set in the private gardens and within pockets of throughout the site consisting of predominantly native species that will establish well and thrive in this locality. Where possible, parking is sited between the gables to avoid cars dominating the streetscape.
