Development Overview

Ainsley Gommon was approached by Fisher German to develop a new, family home to the rear of the existing Vicarage in Lower Whitley. The site is currently undeveloped but is constrained by existing features including mature trees, a septic tank, and the relationship with the host property, all of which have informed the design and layout of the proposal.

The scheme has evolved with the design moving towards a more traditional architectural approach that reflects the character of the surrounding village. The proposed home is two storeys in height and has been carefully designed to sit comfortably within its setting, incorporating a simple roof form, traditional materials, and detailing that responds to the local context.

The new dwelling will provide a spacious family home, including five bedrooms and generous open plan living spaces with a strong connection to the surrounding landscape. The internal layout has been arranged to maximise natural light, with key rooms positioned to take advantage of views across the garden and adjacent farmland.

The proposal also includes a comprehensive landscaping scheme, retaining all existing vegetation and enhancing the site with additional planting and defined outdoor spaces. The design prioritises privacy and amenity, creating a clear separation from the existing dwelling while establishing a high-quality residential environment that integrates with the rural character of the area.
