Ainsley Gommon Architects

Ainsley Gommon has worked closely with Wirral Borough Council to carry out repairs to the Mayor’s Parlour Ceiling in the Grade 2* listed Birkenhead Town Hall. The building was designed in 1882 by local architect Christopher Ellison and is a fine classical centrepiece to Hamilton Square. The Mayor’s Parlour is one of the key public rooms on the front of the building. The ceiling was starting to deflect badly and looked as if it could be in danger of failure. This was in part caused by an accumulation of debris in the roof void above. The works have included removal of the debris, repairs to the roof and ceiling structure and full re-decoration of the affected ceiling.
