Construction works are progressing well on site at Incline Fields, Bangor, where 48 new affordable homes are being delivered in collaboration with Williams Homes (Bala) Ltd and Adra.
The new homes comprise a mix of houses, bungalows and apartments, providing much needed affordable housing for local people. The development has been carefully designed to respond to its sensitive location on the eastern edge of Bangor. Planning approval was achieved in February 2026, marking a significant milestone for a site characterised by its complex industrial heritage and relationship with several key heritage assets, including the Grade II listed Incline Cottage and two Scheduled Monuments: the Marchogion (Knights) Incline and the Penrhyn Slate Quarry Railroad.
The scheme is being delivered using Modern Methods of Construction with sustainable timber frame construction and a fabric-first approach, helping to deliver energy efficient homes with a low carbon footprint. The proposals also incorporate enhanced landscaping and pedestrian connections, improving access through the site and celebrating its historic industrial context.
Construction is now well underway, with a number of timber frames progressing alongside ongoing foundations, drainage and infrastructure works across the site.
The development will transform this previously vacant site into a new community, providing affordable homes while responding sensitively to the distinctive heritage and landscape setting of Incline Fields.
