We’re pleased to share that renovation works at Rivertown Church officially began on site last week, marking an important milestone in preserving and maintaining this historic building. We are delighted to be working alongside Gareth Morris Construction as works commence to bring the scheme to life.
The scheme will carefully restore and adapt the historic building to create a more accessible, sustainable and flexible space for both worship and community use. The proposals include a reconfigured entrance, improved accessibility throughout, enhanced energy performance, new community facilities and the introduction of a café and meeting spaces as part of the church’s “Hope on the High Street” initiative.
The design reimagines the church’s internal layout to better support modern use while celebrating its historic character. A new gallery and light-filled reception will create a more open and welcoming arrival experience, with the café and meeting spaces providing an active presence on the high street. Alongside these interventions, a fabric-first approach to upgrading the building will improve its thermal performance and help secure the church’s long-term future while retaining the qualities that make it such an important local landmark.
It is exciting to see work now underway on a project that will help secure the long-term future of this much loved local landmark, while strengthening its role at the heart of Shotton community.
