This project is located on Okell Drive, Halewood, within an established residential area surrounded by existing homes. The development delivers 9 high-quality new dwellings, replacing a former building that has now been demolished. This provides an excellent opportunity to make more efficient use of the site and deliver much-needed family housing in the area by utilising this brownfield site.
The site is an rectangular piece of land to the west of Okell Drive. It originally housed a former public house building to the south of the site, a car park area and a grassed area to the north. The site is bounded by trees to the northwest, west and south and Okell Drive to the east. There are dwellings on the opposite side of Okell Drive to the north and east with a bus stop directly to the southeast of the site.
The scheme comprises of spacious three-storey homes in blocks of 2 and 3s. The architectural design is a contemporary interpretation of traditional housing, ensuring the homes sit comfortably within the local context while introducing a fresh, modern aesthetic.
The dwellings have also been designed with the Future Homes Standards in mind, ensuring that the dwellings are energy efficient, and have reduced lifetime carbon emissions associated with the use of the homes. To achieve this, high quality building materials and energy efficient systems are proposed to improve the performance of the dwellings. This decision is in line with the current Government commitment to Net Zero Carbon by 2050.
